Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduced a new code distribution event where players can obtain a unique Rillaboom. Trainers have until July 31 to complete the Rillaboom code distribution event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, allowing them to add this unique Pokémon to their collections.
Rillaboom, also known as the Drummer Pokemon, made its debut in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Rillaboom is a fully evolved version of the starting Pokemon Grookey and Thwackey, with a particular tree stump serving as a drum for its attacks.
Rillaboom’s signature move is Drum Beating, which summons roots to assault the victim and reduces its speed. Rillaboom’s high attack stat allows it to use moves like Boomburst and Wood Hammer, making it a formidable opponent for other Grass Pokemon Starters.
Similar to how past Pokemon like Jumpluff have been distributed, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers may now claim a special Rillaboom for their collections. According to Serebii.net, trainers can obtain Rillaboom using the code “R1LLAB00M2024TW” in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet via the Mystery Gift menu.
The distribution event runs until July 31, 2025, so Pokemon players have at least three months from the time of this writing to claim the Drummer Pokemon. Trainers must be connected to the Internet and have a free Nintendo account to accept Mystery Gifts, though a Nintendo Switch Online membership is not needed. Rillaboom can only be claimed once per save file and will be obtained at level 50 inside a Cherish Ball. This Rillaboom is modeled after one used by Wei Chyr, the winner of the 2023-24 Pokemon Championships held in Taiwan in June 2024.

Wei Chyr’s Rillaboom comes with a Choice Band and the moves Grassy Glide, Wood Hammer, U-Turn, and High Horsepower. It has the Grass-type as its Tera type, along with the hidden ability Grassy Surge, which automatically summons Grassy Terrain when Rillaboom is sent out. Statistically, Rillaboom’s effort values (EVs) are 252 attack, 148 speed, and 108 HP. Rillaboom’s distribution runs alongside another Pokemon Scarlet and Violet gift event, where trainers can claim a free Rotom Phone case to match the game version they are playing.
Between the Rillaboom code distribution and the ongoing Salamence Seven-Star Tera Raid event, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players have different ways to grow their collections. Only time will tell when The Pokemon Company will release other championship-winning critters as code distribution prizes.
