A reliable Pokémon leaker has hinted at the release of a new mainline Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025. Interestingly, this game was not part of the major “Teraleak” that made headlines earlier in 2024. Furthermore, it is unlikely to introduce Generation 10, despite earlier speculation stemming from unverified details in the same Teraleak.
Pokémon’s ninth generation began with the launch of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in 2022 and continued with the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. The year 2025 is shaping up to mark the conclusion of Generation 9, with the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, expected sometime during the year. However, the October Teraleak also sparked widespread rumors about Generation 10, hinting at its potential inspiration for the next region. These leaks come from Riddler Khu, a prominent figure in the Pokémon community known for cryptic riddles that sometimes prove accurate. Despite this, Khu’s latest leak isn’t about Generation 10 but rather another Generation 9 title slated for 2025.
According to CentroLeaks on Twitter, Riddler Khu suggested that a new mainline Pokémon game, separate from Pokémon Legends: Z-A, will launch in 2025. CentroLeaks also noted that this game wasn’t included in the October 2024 Teraleak and won’t be part of Generation 10. Instead, it is rumored to release on Nintendo’s next-generation console, which is expected to debut in 2025.
Main Series Pokemon Game 2025 Theories Explained
Based on previous rumors, fans speculate that Khu might be hinting at a potential Let’s Go Johto game duology or remakes of Pokémon Black and White. Both ideas have gained traction online, fueled by recent trademark filings and ongoing discussions within the Pokémon community. Observers have noted that if Game Freak is simultaneously developing a new mainline game and a Legends title, it mirrors the pattern from 2022, when Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Legends: Arceus were released in the same year. However, neither CentroLeaks nor Khu has shared additional details at this time.
The rumored Let’s Go Johto games are said to feature Togepi and Wooper as their mascots and could be the final Pokémon titles released for the Nintendo Switch. Meanwhile, another possible project is a multiplayer Pokémon game, codenamed “Synapse,” which is speculated to resemble Splatoon in gameplay style. As with many rumors surrounding the Pokémon franchise, it’s challenging to separate fact from fiction. Fans will need to wait for official announcements from Game Freak or The Pokémon Company for confirmation.
